Bridget abroad: Berlin Guide

If you’re going to do one thing whilst in Berlin, then the trick is not to rush. The city is relaxed and prefers a slower pace of life to aLondon counter parts so just enjoy the more steady gear and explore the city at your pace.

Food wise, because we all love the food, Berlin seems to be awash with Vietnamese resturants. If you’re looking for number one, then Co Chu is the place to be. Reasonably priced but the most amazing food this place is packed out even on a Monday. Another must see is markthalle neun a food market specilaising in homemade cuisine. Reason ably priced with guest chefs on Thursday’s, head there for authentic Italian fresh pasta and an aperol. There’s also lots of fresh strawberries stands dotted around the city, the carts look like berries. I don’t know the story behind them but I like the idea.

Personally the best way to explore the city is by walking (and it’s all free). We tackled the landmarks in the following order providing a nice round ish trip from the hotel, just bring some sturdy trainers and you’ll be well away. Places to see include the Berlin wall memorial, Reichstag building, Brandenburg gate, Check point Charlie and the Berlin Wall.

The city is famous for it’s 1920s style bars and speakeasy era offerings, a quick google search provides fruition some more obvious than others concealed in the walls of bridges.

Bars near river are perfect for an afternoon cocktail as are the parks dotted around the city centre - Berlin is good for the budget friendly visitor.
